The 12th Singa Macan, Pre-Teen, Sub-Junior and Junior National Pencak Silat Championship 2024 was officially inaugurated today at Sher Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar. The championship, which will run from 16-21 November 2024 has brought together over 1500 talented young athletes from 30 States across India.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Sarmad Hafeez, IAS Secretary to Government, Youth services and Sports, UT of J&K ,who declared the championship open. Other dignitaries present included Kishor Prakash Yewale, President, Indian Pencak Silat Federation, Nusrat Gazala, Div, Sports officer, kashmir and other office bearers of Indian Pencak Silat Federation and officers of the sports council were witnesses the championship opening ceremony.
“This championship is a platform for our young athletes to showcase their skills, learn from each other, and grow as individuals,” said Iqbal. “We are committed to promoting Pencak Silat in India and providing opportunities for our youth to excel in this beautiful sport.”
The championship features competitions in various categories, including:
– Singa Macan (Under-8 )
– Pre-Teen (Under-10)
– Sub-Junior (Under-14)
– Junior (Under-17)
Participating teams include teams from North Indian, South India, east and other zones of the country.
The championship is organized by Pencak Silat Association of J&K , Indian Pencak Silat Federation in association with Sports authority of India, Ministry of Youth affairs and sports Government of India and J&K Sports Council..
