Srinagar, November 06:- A significant awareness program took place today at the Traffic Rural Kashmir Office, chaired by Sh. Ravinder Pal Singh-JKPS (SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir). The session gathered approximately 90 key figures, including Chairpersons, Presidents, Managers, and representatives from various Transport Associations and Sumo Stands across the rural districts of Kashmir Valley.

The program primarily aimed to tackle the growing issue of overcharging, particularly in popular tourist areas and on major routes in districts such as Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Kulgam, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Ganderbal, and Bandipora. Attendees were encouraged to help curb this practice and ensure that drivers adhere to fair pricing standards.

Emphasis was also placed on road safety, with participants being advised to strictly avoid overloading, speeding, and reckless driving, which are primary causes of serious accidents and injuries. Drivers were reminded to maintain all necessary documents, including valid driving licenses and vehicle fitness certificates, in compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.

To reduce illegal operations, the SSP RP Singh highlighted that all unregistered Sumo Stands would be prohibited from operating. Participants were also urged to treat commuters courteously and to operate vehicles in accordance with prescribed regulations.

During the session, attendees raised various concerns and grievances, with assurances provided that these would be addressed promptly.

In closing, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh expressed appreciation for the participants’ active engagement. The participants agreed to organize district-level meetings and awareness programs to ensure that the guidelines discussed would be effectively implemented across the valley.
