Jammu, September 02: Police on Monday claimed to have seized arms which were dropped via drone in Samba district.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that in a joint search operation by Border Security Force (BSF), Police Component Jammu and Samba Police, three pistols were recovered suspected to have been dropped by a drone from across the border in Ramgarh Sector of district Samba.
According to police spokesman on credible input regarding the drone activity in Mallu Chack area, a joint ambush by BSF, PC Jammu and Samba Police was laid in the area. On hearing the humming sound of the drone coming from the Pak side, security personnel fired some rounds towards the direction of the humming sound and pushed the drone back to the Pak side.
After spotting suspected drone movement, thorough search operation was launched in the general area of Mallu Chack and three pistols were recovered suspected to be dropped by the drone, they said.
In this regard, a Case FIR No. 81/2024 u/s 113(3)/149 BNS and 7/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Ramgarh and further investigation is going on, reads the statement.(GNS)
