Srinagar, December 1, 2024: Komal Library, in alliance with Parsa’s and Xtream Motors, successfully executed a comprehensive cleanliness initiative at Nishat Upper Hills, underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship and community involvement.

Sponsored by Khalsa Aid International and Wild Floc, the drive mobilized over 50 volunteers with the objective of restoring and safeguarding one of Srinagar’s most picturesque and ecologically significant locations.

The drive commenced promptly at 11:30 AM and proceeded in two phases:

Phase One: Volunteers concentrated their efforts on the lower half of the hill, systematically collecting waste and clearing obstructed pathways.

Midpoint Interlude: At the event’s midpoint, participants took a brief respite, where refreshments were offered to recharge and maintain momentum.

Phase Two: The second phase saw volunteers extend their efforts to the upper half of the hill, culminating in the renowned Laila Majnu Point, where the group’s work was completed.

Throughout the day, volunteers not only worked relentlessly to remove waste and restore public pathways but also promoted awareness regarding the crucial need for maintaining clean and sustainable spaces in nature.

The event’s conclusion was marked by a stirring performance from the renowned band Sazgar. Their evocative musical compositions provided a memorable finale, seamlessly blending cultural expression with the environmental purpose of the day.

Commenting on the occasion, Sehaj Kour/Bupinder Singh, a representative of Komal Library, stated, “Nishat Upper Hills is a priceless natural heritage. Our goal extends beyond cleaning this beautiful spot—it is to inspire others to take ownership of their surroundings and contribute to preserving such spaces for future generations.”

Representatives from Parsa’s and Xtream Motors expressed pride in their active participation, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts for environmental betterment. A spokesperson from Khalsa Aid International remarked, “Endorsing such community-driven initiatives is consistent with our mission to serve humanity and foster environmental conservation.”

The drive concluded with a profound sense of achievement, as the volunteers left the hill cleaner and more pristine. Their collective efforts highlighted the importance of persistent environmental responsibility.
