Srinagar, Sept 10 (GNS): Patients, requiring X-ray for better diagnosis, are facing trouble at Chest Disease Hospital as the lone machine there has been dysfunctional for nearly a week.
A number of patients called GNS, stating that they are facing extreme difficulty in getting the x-ray done from outside due to the non-functioning of the X-ray machine at the hospital. “While it is causing severe disruptions as far as routine patients are concerned, more trouble is caused to those who are severely ill,” they said, adding, “in such a situation, doctors are directing or requesting all patients for the x-ray outside which not only is troublesome but expensive.”
Referring dire emergency cases for the X-rays outside becomes all more difficult and at times “it worsens their conditions”, they added.
When contacted, Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Sameena Saba told GNS that technical experts inspected the machine and said that it requires replacement of halogen lamp to make the machine functional. However, the MS said, the important component was not available locally and as such it had to be ordered from outside. “We are expecting it today itself and are hopeful that the machine will be made functional either by this evening or tomorrow.” (GNS)
