In a continued effort to promote voter education and electoral participation, a mega awareness programme under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative was successfully conducted at Tangmarg, even as heavy rain persisted. The event was presided over by the District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, with enthusiastic participation from new voters, students, and local residents.
The programme included several engaging activities aimed at encouraging voter awareness for the upcoming Assembly Elections in 2024. DEO Baramulla took the opportunity to distribute Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to new voters, symbolizing their formal inclusion in the democratic process.
In his address, DEO Baramulla urged all participants, particularly first-time voters, to actively engage in the electoral process. He stressed the importance of such awareness programs in ensuring that every eligible voter understands their responsibility and the power of their vote. “Your vote is your voice. Participate in the 2024 Assembly Elections to make it count,” he stated.
Following the program, a SVEEP rally was taken out, with the DEO, new voters, and local community members marching together to spread the message of electoral participation. The rally echoed the commitment of the people of Tangmarg to the democratic process and the importance of high voter turnout.
The event, despite the adverse weather, was a success and highlighted the dedication of the district administration towards ensuring informed and motivated participation in the upcoming elections.
