Pulwama, 1st Sep., 2024 โ In a significant action against illegal liquor trade, Pulwama Police arrested two individuals and seized 70 bottles of liquor at a Naka checkpoint established by the Police Station Pulwama at Gudoora Bridge. The police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
During routine Naka duty, a police party intercepted a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK13A-4513, which was traveling from Gudoora towards Pulwama. The vehicle was signaled to stop for a routine check. Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 70 bottles of liquor from the back seat.
The individuals inside the vehicle were identified as Nazir Ahmad Thoker, son of Ghulam Nabi Thoker, resident of Gudoora Pulwama, and Awtar Ghoslay, son of Santa Ram Ghoslay, resident of Akhola, Maharashtra. When questioned, the individuals failed to provide a reasonable explanation for possessing the large quantity of liquor, leading the police to suspect their involvement in illegal trade.
As a result, an FIR No. 180/2024 under Section 48 of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain further details regarding the illegal activity.
